DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS



Electronic PCB Data -

- Gerber Files - The electronic files that define the Printed Wiring Board. Includes all the data for the board house to build the PCB as well as the files we will use to have the Surface Mount Solder Paste stencil made from. We can also print out a copy of the board's silk screen that will show us component placement outlines and reference designator locations.


- Surface Mount placement data in ASCII format. - This is the file we will use to generate placement programs from. It is a standard output on all CAD packages and is a list in text format that contains one line for each component, listing X and Y coordinates, Part Number, Reference Designator, and part rotation.


Bill Of Materials -

- B.O.M. should be provided in EXCEL format and contain Customer Part number, Manufacturer and Manufacturers part number, Reference Designator, and a Manufacturer and Manufacturers part number for all acceptable substitute part

- The BOM data is imported into our ERP system and serves as our internal BOM as well as a template for our Manufacturing Engineering department to document our assembly procedure / shop router for your assembly.


GENERAL - EMS invests time and money into generating the internal documentation required to build your assemblies. Please respect our investment in your business and send us complete and up to date documentation. All documentation, including your Purchase Order should reference the revision level of the assemblies.


EMS quotations of pricing and lead-time are based on receiving this documentation in electronic format so it can be processed with as little manual intervention as possible to provide you with the lowest possible cost and quickest turnaround. Orders supplied without this data, complete and in electronic format, may generate additional processing costs and delay shipment.
